Some disturbing facts:
- Did you know? In the U.S., childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children, killing more children between the ages of one and 20 than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and AIDS combined. It is the second leading cause of death during childhood, exceeded only by accidents.
- Did you know? Each year in the U.S., approximately 12,500 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer. That’s the equivalent of two average size classrooms diagnosed each school day.
- Did you know? The potential years of life lost to childhood cancer and the potential years of life saved by treatment exceed all other cancers with the exception of breast cancer.
- Did you know? Childhood cancer is not related to lifestyle choices as it is for many adult cancers, and there are no screening tests for most childhood cancers.
- Did you know? Most children cannot be treated at a local hospital, and families must face the disruption of moving for treatment at a regional cancer center.
Please join the fight!
Remember: September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!
